This March, Canada Helps is raising the bar on giving by helping your donation go further. When you set up a new monthly donation of $20 or more, CanadaHelps will make an additional $20 one-time donation to Sing Canada Harmony.*

“The members of Nickel City Sound want to express our gratitude for the Sing Canada Harmony scholarship in 2021. The grant money was used to fund a much-used Zoom meeting room, where weekly rehearsals and all committee meetings were held. A ukulele group “Ukeladies” also was created and the lessons were held in our Zoom room. We had a six week “Come Sing with Us!” virtual program and have been successful in recruiting new members and retaining “old” ones, thus maintaining a strong membership. We used the rest of our grant to complete a virtual singing telegram fundraiser for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, and additionally, we were able to complete a virtual project to thank essential and frontline workers in our community who are working so hard.

Make a will and leave a legacy
Once you have taken care of your family you may want to benefit specific individuals or charities, other vehicles allow gifts that can be paid out without relying on a will, such as life insurance policies and other investments that permit designated beneficiaries. You may want to consider making end of life gifts to worthy charities, including to Sing Canada Harmony Scholarship Fund. A gift may qualify you for the Legacy Program.

Sing Canada Harmony has been providing educational opportunities for singers, music educators and choral communities for 12 years and will continue to do so, thanks to the generosity of our donors. Your support has sent people to university, provided Zoom subscriptions that are keeping our musical communities in touch and communicating with each other. There are projects to produce a compilation of Canadian folk songs in the barbershop style, to purchase music and literacy resources, to support children’s choir programs in several communities and other innovative programs that provide singing opportunities for Canadians of all ages.
Scholarship amounts will be determined based on the available funds in the account and eligible applications received. Application deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1 each year. Please note that Sing Canada Harmony cannot fund travel-related expenses.
